General Electric Co. reported lower profits for its July-September quarter that were in line with a revised forecast of two weeks ago. Net earnings were 2 percent lower at $4.3 billion, or 43 cents per share, compared with $5.1 billion, or 54 cents, in the third quarter of 2007. Total revenues were $47 billion, up 11 percent.
